Optimist Qualifying

PROCEDURE FOR OPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL QUALIFYING AT USJGT EVENTS

     The United States Junior Golf Tour is pleased to have all of its Tennessee events selected as qualifiers for the 2009 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships - Tennessee Qualifying Program. 

    The state championship is scheduled for June 15 at Windyke Country Club in Memphis.

RULES PERTAINING TO QUALIFYING THROUGH THE USJGT

1.  All events are governed by the USJGT and all rules of the USJGT apply at each event.

2.  All USJGT events are two-day tournaments.  A player must compete in both days of the event to have his score count in Optimist qualifying.

3.  The Sunday round in all events will count as the Optimist qualifying score.  A player MUST participate on Saturday in the USJGT event.  A player cannot no-show for the Saturday round and then play only on Sunday.

4.   If inclement weather prevents completion of Sunday's round, then the Saturday score will count as the Optimist qualifying score.

5.   The USJGT will provide Optimist State Championship entry forms to players who qualify.

6.  Qualifiers must be residents of the state of Tennessee.  Any player can play in a USJGT event, but only Tennessee residents can use it as an Optimist qualifier.

The following age groups are used by Optimist (player's age as of July 26, 2007) determines division.

BOYS:    10-11    96 or lower            GIRLS:    10-11    96 or lower

                12-13    90 or lower                            12-13    95 or lower

                14-15    85 or lower                            14-15    90 or lower

                16-18    80 or lower                            16-18    85 or lower
