RULES REMINDERS FOR THE 2009-2010 SEASON

1.  Electronic measuring devices are not allowed in USJGT Play

2.  Caddies are not allowed in any age division (For Girls Rising Stars and Boys Future Stars, caddies are no longer allowed)

3.  Pace of play is your responsibility as a player.  If you get to a hole and the group in front of you is not on that hole, then you are behind and it is your responsibility to get back into position.  ONLY ONE SLOW PLAY WARNING WILL BE GIVEN THIS YEAR.  After that, all players in the group will be penalized two shots.

4.  Spectators are allowed to shuttle players on carts between holes

5.  Do not wait if a rules question arises.  Play two balls to completion of the hole and a decision will be made at the first available opportunity.

6.  For the Boys Rising Stars, Boys Future Stars and Girls Rising Stars divisions, there is an 8 stroke limit per hole except on the last hole (no limit).  If you hit your eighth shot and it does not go in, pick up your ball and take an eight.  Do not hit any more shots beyond your eighth except on the last hole.

6.  For the Boys Future Stars and Girls Rising Stars divisions, the following changes are in effect:  A) No caddies; B) No advice to players; C)For each round, a parent is designated as the group scoring assistant and another parent is designated as the Pace of Play Monitor.  Players will still keep scorecards, but the Parent scoring assistant is to write down all players' scores for end of the round verification.  The Pace of Play monitor can walk on the course with the players and it is that person's responsibility to tell each player when it is their turn to hit.  Once the monitor designates a player to hit, that player has 40 seconds to make their shot.  Parents designated for these duties will rotate each round so that one parent is not asked to do this all the time.  We truly appreciate the parents' assistance in these matters.

FINAL REMINDER TO PARENTS

As we begin our ninth season of USJGT play, we have had the great pleasure of watching players mature as golfers and people and 217 of our alumni have gone on to play college golf.  Many others are academically successful in college - and even though they don't play college golf - most still play, at the least, recreationally.  Golf is a game for a lifetime.  With that in mind, all parents want our children to play well, but there are days when that won't happen.  Bad shots occur, mental mistakes happen and each is yet another step in the learning process.  Under no circumstances should a parent verbally berate a child during the course of an event.  This doesn't happen often, but, unfortunately, we have seen it occur.  This is not tolerated under any circumstances.  These are children, not professionals.  We try to provide a positive, friendly, yet competitive arena for the development of golf and friendship.  We request and expect that participants and parents adhere to that desire.  Thank you for your participation this year and we look forward to many more years of USJGT competition.
