USJGT AWARDED 10 EXEMPTIONS TO THE JUNIOR WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
For the eighth consecutive year, the USJGT will host the Mid-South's only qualifier for the prestigious Callaway Junior World Golf Championship scheduled for San Diego, Ca. Long regarded as one of the premiere events in all of junior golf, the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship brings together the best players from all over the world.
Marion Golf and Athletic Club in Marion, Arkansas, will host this qualifier on Tuesday, May 26, with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. Nicknamed The Monster at Marion, this extremely challenging layout features bermuda fairways, the best bent grass greens in the Memphis area, and requires a variety in shot selection.
The United States Junior Golf Tour is the only tour in the nation to be awarded an exemption in every age group of the 2009 Callaway Junior World Golf Championship. The USJGT will host a one day 18 hole qualifier to determine who receives the exemptions.
The USJGT will award one exemption in each of the following age groups:
Boys: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17
Girls: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17
The age bracket in which a player is listed will be determined by that player's age as of July 17, 2008. Each exemption winner will receive automatic entry into one of junior golf's most prestigious events. Expenses incurred involving transportation to and from San Diego as well as that tournament's entry fee are the responsibility of the player.
