High school freshman Drew Greenwood (Hot Springs, Ark.) held his one shot lead fending off hard-charging Brett Barry (Jackson, Tenn.) to win the Boys High School division at the opening event of the 2008-2009 season at The Bear Trace at Chickasaw in Henderson, Tenn.  Greenwood led Elliot Shin (Estill Springs, Tenn.) by one shot after one round.  Shin fell to fifth, but Barry - who opened with an 84 on Saturday - fired a spectacular 69 on Sunday to get into contention.  Evan Greenwood (Hot Springs, Ark.) and USJGT newcomer Alden Hinkel (Serepta, La.) tied for third.
Seventh-grader Brooke Alford (Marion, Ark.) claimed the title in the Girls High School division.  Alford, who led by two shots after round one, fired a division-best 78 on Sunday to defeat Grace Grubb (Little Rock, Ark.) by eight shots.
Cole Newman (Clarksville, Tenn.) came from a shot back to win by three in the Boys Junior High division.  Newman beat Logan Watkins (Covington, Tenn.). Ben Carroll (Counce, Tenn.) finished third while Phillip Hickam (Olive Branch, Miss.) had his highest USJGT finish ever capturing fourth place.
Braden Thornberry (Olive Branch, Miss.) rallied from eight shots down to win by seven strokes over Cameron Close (Germantown, Tenn.).  Thornberry fired a division best 75 in the final round to seal the win.  Trey DePriest (Monette, Ark.) finished third while Jack Evans (Arlington, Tenn.) finished fourth.
Elizabeth Moon (Germantown, Tenn.) came from behind to win the Girls Rising Stars division by one shot over Aubree Jones (Covington, Tenn.).  Moon shot 39 while Jones shot 37 in the final round.
Whit Parker (Conway, Ark.) rallied from two shots back to edge Winston Margaritis (Eads, Tenn.) in the Boys Future Stars division.  Andrew Pierce (Germantown, Tenn.) shot 40 on Sunday rising to third place.
